My wife, Rebecca, and I were married in 1999 and we have six children. We have been attending Maranatha since 2003 and have been members since 2006. I also work on the Tech Team here at Maranatha. Rebecca and I have served in several ministries over the years.

John Hammond

I accepted the Lord at age 12 at a camp meeting and attended Bradford Baptist Church until 1979 when I married my wife, Carol, and moved to Elmira. We have one son, Matthew, a daughter-in-law Valerie, and grandson, Bryce who live in the area and are serving the Lord. In 2012 I retired after 40 years with Corning, Inc.

My wife and I have been members of Maranatha and have served at Maranatha since 1981. I have worked on the Building & Grounds Committee, served as a Deacon, and assisted with the ushers. I also was a member of the team that went on a missions trip to El Salvador in 2014. Currently, I am serving as leader of the Seniors Ministry.

Throughout our lives, our family has experienced God’s many workings and blessings in our lives. I look forward to serving God as an Elder here at Maranatha.

Dave Hursh

My name is Dave Hursh and I am proud to call Maranatha Bible Chapel my church home. I am a Corning East graduate and have degrees from Penn State and Temple University.

I grew up in the Methodist church where I heard the message of the gospel, which unfortunately didn’t take and I became one of the many youths who ended up leaving the church upon gaining independence. Thanks to the help and testimony of a young lady I was dating, I not only came back to the church but came to Christ as well. Thankfully, God has continued to reveal Himself to me in many mysterious and wonderful ways. I married that young lady a couple of years later.

Barbara and I were married in 1993. We live in East Corning with our three sons: Allen, Daniel, and Jack. Outside of church, we keep busy with a myriad of sports and school activities. Since joining Maranatha I have served in Children’s Ministry and as a Deacon. Both, as well as my time as an Elder, have been a blessing to me.

Robb Johnson

I have attended Maranatha Bible Chapel since 2016, along with my beautiful family consisting of my wife Casey, and three amazing children who have each been involved in the various children’s ministries here. Casey and I met in college, were married in June of 2002, and traveled the country extensively working radiation protection in different nuclear power plants until family life required us to settle down here in 2006 where Casey had family roots. I currently work at Elmira Correctional Facility and my wife manages a local court.

I grew up in a Southern Baptist family and accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior at the age of 10 while staying at a sleepaway Christian camp. However, in my later teenage years and twenties, I found myself straying from my relationship with God until becoming a father where I then returned to regular church service and sought a continual and meaningful relationship with Him. I am happy to serve Maranatha in the capacity of an Elder and in any other way the Lord seeks me to.

To God be the glory!
