SUMMARY
The
Director of Student Ministries or
Pastor of Student Ministries
shall be a licensed Official Worker of the Christian and
Missionary Alliance. He shall oversee the church's ministry to
grade 6 through senior high youth. He will accomplish his role
through direct involvement with youth, through the cooperative
efforts of the Youth Ministry Team. This position is responsible for
planning, coordinating and overseeing activities for the youth to
promote fun, fellowship, spiritual development and ministry
involvement.

standards in your own personal, family and devotional life,
complying with biblical leadership qualifications described in 1
Tim. 3:1-13.

Spiritual gifts relevant to the position of ministry.

A special concern for youth and their spiritual lives.
G.
Competent in Bible teaching and speaking to youth.
H.
Understand the maturity levels and characteristics of teens
and the challenges they face today.
I.
Competent in organization, administration and interpersonal
relationships
J.
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or
university; or one to two years related experience and/or training;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
K.
Agreement with the doctrinal statement and ministry
philosophy of Maranatha Bible Chapel.
L.
Committed to teamwork with the pastoral staff.
II. PRIMARY
OBJECTIVES
A.
Give pastoral leadership and oversight to the entire youth
ministry (Grades 6th through 12th)
B.
Develop and implement ministries that attract youth to Christ
and promote spiritual growth.
C.
To instruct and train the youth to understand and implement
the Word of God in their lives, especially as it relates to:
Worship, Service, Outreach, Growth, and Family.
D.
To be the primary preacher/teacher for the youth ministry.
E.
Pray for the students, staff and parents/guardians of the
youth ministry.
F.
To be readily available to counsel youth and/or their
parents/guardians regarding youth and parenting issues.
G.
Plan and coordinate special events (retreats, camps, mission
projects and trips, etc.) that touch all youth at various levels of
spiritual maturity, within the goals and objectives of evangelism,
worship, fellowship, discipleship and ministry.
H.
Be aware of district and national youth activities and trends
(Youth Commission, Delta Lake and LIFE, etc.)
I.
Promote the youth ministry to the church and local community.
J.
Develop relationships with area schools and officials.
K.
To actively integrate the youth into all activities of church
life here at MBC. Envisioning and equipping them to lead and to
serve here, now, and in the future.
L.
To guide the church youth in cultivating a passion for
non-Christians and designing and implementing effective outreach and
assimilation strategies.
III.
RESPONSIBILITIES
A.
To provide a weekly youth service that is worshipful, fun,
relevant, and effective in instructing, training, nurturing, and
launching youth into Christian service.
B.
Plan, prepare and coordinate youth events throughout the
year.
C.
Maintain a visitation ministry to offer encouragement and
support of youth and families.
D.
Maintain contact with teens and parents/guardians keeping
them informed of topics/themes being studied, special events, etc.
through printed notices, postcards, website, email, calls, etc.
E.
Contact and begin relationships with prospects, visitors and
new members of the youth group.
F.
Recruit, train and advise youth staff to ensure quality of
ministries and effective use of resources.
G.
Meet with youth staff regularly to pray and discuss upcoming
events, challenges, solutions and praises.
H.
Be a visible support to the students and parents whenever
possible.
IV. ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
A.
Oversee budget and expenditures for the student ministries
department.
B.
Review and evaluate all materials used in the area of youth
ministry.
C.
Coordinate the youth activities, calendar and vision with all
other areas of church life.
D.
Attend weekly staff meetings endeavoring to work closely with
other staff members
E.
Meet weekly with your supervisor.
F.
Keep abreast of youth trends and resources needed in order to
serve as an advisor to the church on adolescence.
G.
Provide reports to the Church Board when called upon.
H.
Prepare and submit annual student ministries budget.
I.
Prepare and submit annual report for the congregational
report.
J.
Keep a current list of volunteers with names/addresses/phone
numbers.
K.
Keep ongoing record of attendance, both of workers and youth.
V. OTHER
RESPONSIBILITIES

This area can be developed according to individual
interest and giftedness.
A.
To work closely with all other members of the church staff,
effectively uniting with and complementing other church ministries.
B.
Assist in worship services as needed.
C.
Fill the pulpit as needed.
D.
Serve as requested for weddings, funerals and other special
services.
E.
Be available to share your gifts and talents in all areas of
the church ministry as time permits.
